History of the Fire Department and Emergency Services in Madison Township
The Madison Township Fire Department was established in the early 1950’s with the Miltonville station opening first and the Poasttown station opening soon thereafter. In the earlier years you might have known the departments listed as North Madison Fire Department and South Madison Fire Department, both stations were governed by the Township Trustees but were ran by their own fire department officers.
2000
In the year 2000, the Township Trustees decided to merge the two fire departments as one with one Fire Chief and Assistant Chief’s in charge of their respective stations.
2006
In 2006 the Madison Life Squad Inc. contacted the Township Trustees and requested that the Township assume the responsibilities of EMS service for the township.

As of 2018, the department handles approximately 1000 calls for service a year, calls such as medical assistance, structure fires, automobile crashes, brush fires, haz-mat calls, etc.
